  11.         Welcome to the release of Qmail DeLuxe² v1.12!

  13.         If you have already registered your Qmail DeLuxe² reader then
  14.         you may update your reader system from these files.  You do not
  15.         need pay any additional registration fees in order to use this
  16.         release.

  18.         This file contains a list of fixes and new features.  This file
  19.         is in addition to the DELUXE2.DOC file.  If you are new to Qmail
  20.         DeLuxe² we recommend that you browse through this file and read
  21.         DELUXE2.DOC in order to learn how to use Qmail DeLuxe².

  34.     ■   Qmail DeLuxe² will now let you view a message with 225 lines
  35.         without shelling out to LIST.
  36.  
  37.     ■   Qmail DeLuxe² has full support for a ZIPPY string search.  You
  38.         scan search all messages, messages in only one conference, exclude
  39.         taglines and messages you've already read.
  40.  
  41.         In order to perform a ZIPPY message scan all you need to do is to
  42.         press the letter "Z" while reading messages.  You can search all
  43.         messages in the packet, in the current conference, messages you
  44.         have already read and exclude taglines.
  45.  
  46.         The ZIPPY function returns you back to the current conference and
  47.         message you were in when you first executed the ZIPPY command.
  48.  
  49.         For more information about the ZIPPY command just press [ALT+H]
  50.         after you press the "Z" command to execute a ZIPPY search.
  51.  
  52.     ■   Full support for the Sparkware Usenet Gateway is now available.
  53.         If you reply to a Usenet message then the reader automatically
  54.         sets up your reply to conform with gateway standards.  The reader
  55.         even adds the "UN: " to the front of your subject automatically
  56.         or addresses it to USENET GATEWAY (if it is a Usenet mail message).

  58.     ■   Message filespecs for archiving messages are now checked to make
  59.         sure SPACES are converted into underscores.
  60.  
  61.     ■   Qmail DeLuxe² now checks to see that the target subdirectory
  62.         actually exists before the message is archived.  This lets you use
  63.         archive filespecs like:

  65.                   C:\D2\ARCHIVES\#CONTROL(6)\#CONF#

  67.         So each BBS' archived messages are stored in a seperate subdirectory.
  68.         (Change all #'s to @'s in the above example).

  70.     ■   If you use the "Enter messages without a reply packet on file"
  71.         then DeLuxe² will now check the .REP packet if it exists to see
  72.         which archiver was used to create it.
  73.  
  74.     ■   If a conference was not listed in the conference menu but was
  75.         included in the message packet (or REPLIES too) then the reader
  76.         would display JUNK for the conference name in the message header.
  77.         It now displays the conference number with "-Not on file-".
  78.  
  79.     ■   There was a problem in the way that the reader would handle
  80.         imbedded #PAUSE@ and #MORE@ statements in text files.  Salt Air's
  81.         usage bulletin #15 was a good example of the problem.  Fixed.

  83.     ■   You can specify the DEFAULT archive message filespec from inside
  84.         the program DLXTEXT.EXE.  Record #233 has been reserved for this
  85.         filespec.  It defaults to NOTES.

  93.     ■   The reader now adjusts the number of conferences reserved in
  94.         memory to the number of conferences required by the BBS.  This
  95.         helps cut down on the large amount of RAM required to support
  96.         2,500 conferences.  Qmail DeLuxe² can now support up to 3,855
  97.         conferences!
  98.  
  99.     ■   Built-in mouse support.  If you would like to use your mouse
  100.         then use the command "DELUXE2 /M" to start the reader.  The LEFT
  101.         button will work like pressing [ENTER] and the right button
  102.         works like pressing the [ESC] key.

  104.         We've included a new DLXTEXT file that contains two new entries
  105.         to support the internal mouse.  Please copy this file over your
  106.         current entry.
  107.  
  108.         Please note that the configuration utility does not support use
  109.         of the mouse.
  110.  
  111.     ■   Mouse support for left-handed users.  We didn't forget you
  112.         "lefties"!!!   Just use the command line switch "/ML" instead of
  113.         "/M" to add left-hand mouse support.
  114.  
  115.     ■   If you are using a mouse you can now access a "virtual" keyboard
  116.         from practically anywhere within the reader.  Just press BOTH
  117.         mouse buttons together (or, if you have a three button mouse,
  118.         press the middle button) and select which letter you need.

  120.     ■   DeLuxe² now supports ANSI music!  If you do not want to hear
  121.         ANSI music just turn NOISE off from inside the configuration's
  122.         "Flags" area.  You can also stop ANSI music from being played in
  123.         the current message by tapping the [ESC] key once.  Allow a few
  124.         seconds for the music buffer to finish playing the current bars.

  126.     ■   The DOS command box (displayed when you execute a DOS command)
  127.         has been changed to simply white text on a black background.
  128.         This was done so you can easily use high-intensity backgrounds
  129.         from inside the reader.

  131.     ■   You may now specify more than one file extension mask on the
  132.         command line.  The reader always looks for "*.Q*" files in your
  133.         packet subdirectory.  But you can now use commands like:

  135.                           DELUXE2 *.Q* *.ZX* *.ZIP
  136.  
  137.         And the reader will locate all Qmail Door 4.00 mail packets,
  138.         mail packets from the XRS mail system for Fidonet systems, and
  139.         PCBoard .CAP files that have been downloaded using the command
  140.         "R A Z" from PCBoard.

  142.     ■   The reader now supports "snow checking" for CGA monitors.  Use
  143.         the command:  DELUXE2 /SNOW  to turn snow checking ON.

  145.     ■   Fixed a bug where messages you replied to in the PERSONAL
  146.         conference would always be redirected to the MAIN conference.

  148.     ■   Fixed a bug in SuperShell that would prevent Qmail DeLuxe² from
  149.         working as a "shelled process" from either RoboComm or QMM.

  151.     ■   You may now "unlock" your message headers and scroll the entire
  152.         message screen at one time.

  154.     ■   The "/ABS" flag would not work in previous versions of the
  155.         reader.  Fixed.

  157.     ■   Added support for three new @variables in the reader.  These
  158.         variables are:

  160.                 @TO@      - Replaced with the "TO" field in a

  162.                 @FROM@    - Replaced with the "FROM" field in a

  164.                 @SUBJECT@ - Replaced with the "SUBJECT" field

  167.     ■   You can now add these entries into your DELUXE2.4 menu and have
  168.         the reader reply to the recipient of the message.  See the new
  169.         DELUXE2.4 menu file included.

  171.     ■   The reader will now automatically create the correct Usenet
  172.         message headers if you reply to messages created by the
  173.         Sparkware PCB/Usenet gateway.  The reader also positions the
  174.         message text so the first lines of the message are shown skipping
  175.         the routing information (you can press the [HOME] key to see it
  176.         if needed).

  178.     ■   Qmail DeLuxe² now loads conferences from CONTROL.DAT faster than
  179.         previous versions.
  180.  
  181.     ■   Qmail DeLuxe² will now let you archive messages using file
  182.         extensions and save them in other subdirectories.  If you do not
  183.         specify a file extension then the reader uses ".TXT".  If you do
  184.         not specify a subdirectory then the reader will save the message
  185.         in the ARCHIVES subdirectory.

  187.     ■   Qmail DeLuxe² now lets you archive messages into a database
  188.         program.  If you create a batch in your Qmail DeLuxe²
  189.         subdirectory named "ARCHIVE.BAT" then the reader will export the
  190.         current message to "EXPORT.TXT" and call this batch file passing
  191.         the export filespec as the first parameter.

  193.         This feature allows third party developers to create custom
  194.         database archiving software that easily interfaces with the
  195.         Qmail DeLuxe² reader.  If you are learning more about how the
  196.         reader uses this feature feel free to contact us.  The file
  197.         format for EXPORT.TXT is located in DELUXE2.DOC under message
  198.         exporting.

  204.    These new features will be supported by Qmail DeLuxe² shortly.  We
  205.    are finishing up work on a program named "CVT" that provides you with
  206.    these new features.  Check 'em out:

  209.     ■   Qmail DeLuxe² v1.12 has the ability to read and reply to
  210.         messages produced by the XRS offline mail system for FidoNet
  211.         compatible systems.
  212.  
  213.     ■   Qmail DeLuxe² can also read and reply to messages created by
  214.         PCBoard's own "message capture" facility.  You can use this
  215.         feature to read messages on PCBoards that do not yet own a Qmail
  216.         Door of their own.  While not as "slick" as using a Qmail Door
  217.         to process your mail, this system does work and is virtually
  218.         "seamless" to the user.
